Sharing your love for the Performing Arts
Hello! We hope you enjoyed meeting Neve from Year 7 and Emilia from Year 9, much like you, they are passionate about the Performing Arts.
At our school, the Performing Arts is a thriving part of student life, with so many opportunities to get involved. From the excitement of Drama and Music to the creativity of radio hosting with our show Redmaidio, our students love exploring every facet of performance and we can't wait for you to be part of it too!
Below is a little more information about the Performing Arts at our school, we hope you find it useful.

We also host regular concerts, workshops and masterclasses, providing invaluable experiences to showcase their skills to a broader audience and learn from industry experts.
Outside of school, we take pride in our involvement with prestigious events such as the national GSA Choir of the Year competition. Additionally, many of our students participate in the Rotary Young Musician competition, a fantastic platform that celebrates individual musical excellence.
We also have strong links with the National Youth Orchestra, providing students with an incredible chance to connect with some of the country’s finest young musicians and gain invaluable experience in a professional orchestral setting.
Drama
Drama holds a significant place in our hearts too, whether on stage or behind the scenes. Students can participate in school plays, musicals and dramatic productions, allowing them to explore various genres and styles of performance. Beyond acting, there are opportunities to develop skills in set design, costume creation, lighting sound and stage management too, offering a comprehensive understanding of theatre and technical production.
Our drama provision also includes workshops and masterclasses led by experienced professionals, providing valuable insights and helping students refine their craft. Additionally, we host fun House drama competitions and encourage involvement in local and national theatre festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the annual Bristol Speech and Drama Festival, giving students the chance to showcase their talents to a much bigger audience.
Redmaidio
We are incredibly fortunate to have our radio shack at school, where students run our radio show, Redmaidio. This platform offers a fun and creative way for students to express themselves through audio performance.
Participating in Redmaidio is such a fun experience that helps students develop valuable skills in areas such as technical production, podcasting, communication as well as building their confidence.
