Sharing your love for sport
Hello! We hope you enjoyed meeting Tess from Year 7 and Florrie from Year 9; much like you, they are passionate about sport too!
Sport and physical activity have a central role within our community, helping ensure that we all develop positive attitudes towards maintaining physical and mental health.
Below is a little more information about the sport provision at our school, we hope you find it useful.
Our opportunities
Our PE provision is wide-ranging, ensuring every student can get involved. To ensure all girls thrive, students have timetabled PE lessons based on their ability. There are also more than 35 extra-curricular clubs and we offer PE and Dance qualifications at GCSE and A Level.
All students are encouraged to be part of a team, and we regularly field teams of all skill level and ability. Through schools-only fixtures and tournaments, or external leagues and public competitions, we're committed to ensuring student experience match-play so they can benefit from the physical and mental enrichment of competitive play. We also have competitive House sports events throughout the year and an annual Sports Day in the summer which are so much fun!
Below is a list of the sports that you can get involved with:
- Netball
- Hockey
- Cricket
- Tennis
- Football
- Athletics
- Trampolining
- Gymnastics
- Badminton
- Judo
- Fencing
- Cross-country
- Touch Rugby
- Creative Ballet
- Rounders
- Dance
- Swimming
Many of our school teams and individual students compete successfully at county, regional and national level. We also host a Birmingham Panthers Under 17 Netball Academy under the leadership of Mrs Kellie Lines (née Hull), GB player and our school netball coach.
Outdoor Adventures
Alongside the more traditional sports, our Outdoor Adventures programme enables all students to explore, enjoy and excel in a range of alternative active pursuits.
Here's what you could get up to:
- Bouldering
- Orienteering
- Caving
- Kayaking
- Paddleboarding
- Skateboarding
- Surfing
Our students help shape this programme, so if you want to try something new, let us know and we will do everything we can to facilitate it!
Our facilities
To accommodate our extensive sports programmes, our main Westbury school site includes a full-size hockey pitch astro with a long jump sand pit. This area can turned into multiple tennis courts or netball courts. We also have outdoor hard courts lined for netball or tennis, as well as an indoor sports hall and separate dance studio.
The Lawns
Our fantastic off-site facility, The Lawns, is a multi-purpose sports ground that includes a national hockey federation standard pitch, netball courts, tennis courts, cricket wickets, 3G football pitch and an extensive athletics space.
Inclusive and Empowering
The enthusiasm for development and growth couldn't be more beneficial or rewarding in our all-girls school.
In an environment where our students are free from stereotypes and feel empowered to have a go, they're unafraid to make mistakes, to get sweaty, to captain their own teams, to take charge of their own development and to throw themselves 100% into any sporting endeavour they choose.
This safe, supportive and encouraging space inspires our students to give their best and push beyond their limits. It is wonderful to see, and we'd love for you to be part of it too!
